Former Millwall midfielder David Livermore has been given his first chance at management by Histon.The 30-year-old, who played 14 times for Barnet last season, replaces John Beck who left the club by mutual consent on Friday.

Livermore told the Stutes' website: "I am pleased, proud and excited to be offered this chance to move into football management.

"I am really relishing the opportunity and the challenge."

He will lead the team in Tuesday's league clash at home to Eastbourne Borough..

"It is tremendous to be able to make my managerial debut at a club like Histon in the Blue Square Bet Premier," he added.

"I was most impressed with the attitude and commitment displayed by all the players at Newport County on Saturday and I can't wait to get working with them in training and preparing for another important game tomorrow night."

Livermore's playing career included a seven-year spell with Millwall, where he made 312 appearances.

He began his career as an Arsenal trainee but never played a first-team game.
